A Neighborhood Designed for a Community of People by People in the Community

siteplan

Renaissance Square is the first community in Baltimore County to follow the community design charrette process established by the landmark Renaissance Redevelopment Pilot Program through legislation aimed at revitalizing older Baltimore County communities. Residents of the Middle River area were asked, "What makes a neighborhood and its homes livable? What do you want to see on this 17 acre site?"

Their answers? Avoid a cookie cutter appearance by having a mix of architectural styles. Build homes which are energy efficient and create an eco friendly environment. Promote a close-knit community with porchfront homes, public green spaces, walking trails, and tree-lined sidewalks. And minimize the presence of cars with rear garages and parking.

The result? Renaissance Square -- a vibrant traditional community that places the pedestrian above the car, that values green space over parking spaces and preserves the integrity of the environment. In short, the kind of neighborhood you grew up in. Only better.
